WHAT TO EXPECT

Checking out a church for the first time can be an extremely unnerving experience.  Questions may come to your mind like “Is it going to be wierd? Will I be out of place if I don’t dress up? What if I don’t know anyone?” If you’ve never been to church before, this is probably just the tip of the iceberg in relation to how many questions you have. If you are coming back after a while since your last visit, you probably have expectations based on your past experiences. Whatever comes to your mind when you think of church…throw it away!

We aren’t going to tell you that we are the next best thing going. We aren’t even going to tell you that we’ve all got our acts together and have life figured out. Truth be known, we’re probably more like you than you’d believe! We are just a bunch of people that have followed God’s leading and are in the process of submitting our lives to Him. But one thing we are is unique – not because we’re so great – but because we are a different group of people than what you knew in the past. We have different tastes and personalities, so what happens in our faith community is going to be different than the next one.

So, when you show up to TXC’s Sunday Gathering in SilverCity-Mission, you can be sure to find the following things: a chill atmosphere – similar to what you would experience when going to a movie, friendly people who are genuinely excited to see you and are probably dressed similarily to you on a casual day, good and loud music that won’t send shrills up your spine (unless you don’t like good and loud music!), coffee that is sure to get your adrenaline pumping, comfy seats to relax in and authentic teaching that engages your mind and connects with everyday life .  There may be things that you are unfamiliar with and we encourage you to not feel pressured to participate in anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or uneasy.

We see ourselves as a type of UPS delivery service.  A package can be delivered in many different ways to get it to the destination it needs to go to.  The only thing that matters is that it’s delivered on time and in one piece.  If it’s broken, the delivery service is toast.  Our package is the gospel of Jesus and it will always be central to who we are.  However, the way that package is delivered will change whenever it needs to. So you can expect a variety of different ways that we try and communicate Jesus that aren’t outdated but relevant to where our culture is today.

Each gathering starts @ 9:30am and if you have kids you can check them into Upstream Kids at the end of the left hallway starting @ 9:10am. Coffee is also on at that time so you can get your morning fix. Watch the Sneak Peek  on the bottom of the home page to get a feel for what you will experience!
