Welcome to TXC 2.0! Unifyer is not just TXC’s very own social network, but it is a decentralized hub of communication for the whole church. In order to get information into the hands of the people you no longer have to pass it through the bottle neck of the church office. Now it’s just a click away. This isn’t a replacement for our website or even facebook for that matter. It’s a companion. It’s a level deeper than the website because now it’s not just reading information but it’s all of us participating in the outcome together. Facebook could be likened to a shopping mall with it having tons of different options and distractions. Unifyer is 1 specialized store that is focused on all of us at TXC connecting in a deeper way without all of the excess “noise”. This is about real, not virtual friendships, that help to connect us to Jesus and each other.

If you want to know more about Unifyer and what it takes to get started, keep reading:
1. Register
Go to http://txc.unifyer.com (no ‘www’!). Be patient, it might take several seconds for the application to load and install the necessary plug-ins for the first use. If you don’t have a flash viewer on your computer, you’ll need to install one. When the login window appears, click the “Register” button. Enter your basic information, desired username and password, and click the “Submit” button.
2. Login
After you register, the system will return to the login window pictured above. Simply enter your username and password that you just created, and then click “LogIn” (do not click “Register” as the system will attempt to create a new account.)
3. Set up your profile
Click “My Profile” in the top right corner of the screen. In the Profile window, click the “Edit” button. Fill in your name and details and be sure to check off the “email notification” box so you know when there are updates for you. When you’re finished, click the “Done” button at the top of your profile. You can start a blog, view your friends, view your groups, and add media. Choose from the buttons at the top of your profile to start adding content to your own content. We encourage you to add as much information as possible as this is only viewable by those who attend TXC and is intended to connect us together better. And always be adding new content to your profile to keep everything interesting!
4. Add News Feeds
Click the “News” button at the top of the screen. On the right side of the screen, click and hold on the name of a news feed that you want to keep updated on and drag it to the empty space to create a “widget”. News feeds are church wide information and covers a broad spectrum. A few that we recommend for you to start are “Getting Started”, “Pastor’s Pit” and “Church wide news”. You are now subscribed to these news feeds and will automatically be notified in your Inbox anytime they are updated. News Feeds can only be updated by those selected by the site administrators. By clicking directly on the widget, you can access all of it’s articles and media.
5. Add Friends
Click the “Friends” button at the top of the screen. On the right side of the screen, click the name of a person you want to request as a friend, and drag it to an empty space just like you did for the widgets. You will now have to wait for them to confirm your request. The only time you will receive a notification in your Inbox is when any of your friends updates their blog. We encourage you to add as many people as you’re comfortable with, even those who you don’t know. The idea is that once you know more about them on Unifyer, through conversations and viewing their profile, you will be more confident to be friends with them in real life.
6. Join & Create Groups
Click the “Groups” button at the top of the screen. On the right side of the screen, click the name of the Group you’re interested in, and drag it into an empty space. Groups are more specific than a news feed. For instance, where News Feeds are more general, updated by a select few and intended to communicate with everyone in our church, Groups are intended for just the members of that group to communicate with each other. They can be also be created by anyone (note: they are also moderated and need to be inline with the mission of TXC) You can join any groups that are set to public. If a group is private, only the members of that group are able to access it.
7. Add to the conversation!
The only way this is going to work in the best possible way is for all of us to contribute on a consistent basis. It will be meaningless if we all sign up and just leave our profile blank. When someone posts something that you like, comment on it. Post prayer requests through your blog. If you’re in an UnderCurrent, start a discussion in your Group for everyone to particiapte in. For help, click the question mark in the lower left corner of the screen or email the church at info@livethemission.ca.
