I’m not sure whether the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son – Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit) had a board meeting or what, but somehow Jesus was chosen to come to earth. This is one definitive characteristic of Christianity that sets it apart from any other religion in the world. The God of the universe comes to the earth he created. He knew it was decrepit and sin filled. Yet he still came because he needed to be on our level. He needed to experience life in our shoes so we would know that he had been there, done that. (Luke 2, Hebrews 4:15)
And he came as a baby of all things! You think he would show up in a tank or something if he was going to somehow set his people free. But no, a baby. And to a virgin of all people! (Matthew 1:26-38) Mary was her name and Joseph was her fiancee. Now if you were him, you wouldn’t believe it at all. But through a series of events, he came to believe her and Jesus was born. He grew up as a carpenter’s son, fully God and fully man, and when he turned 30, things got crazy!
